Because the car still rolls and no noise from the electric motor from the back that pulls the brake.
My feeling is this parking brake is not working at all.

I have to admit that aways I'm switching off the engine first. The gearbox automatically goes in parking and also I receive the message the parking brake is automatically applied, even the car still rolls untill the gearbox stops it. Every time when I was trying to manually engage the parking brake, it was after I switched off the engine.
But still, if I need to try with engine on, this is still abnormal.

It May be a defect. I’d video the issue and take it to the dealer. The car has a lot of little irritating quirks. It will get better over the years as they will work through the issues. It just needs a lot of patience which I don’t have 😁

Of course, all this are active in my case.
I receive all the messages that sais the parking brake is engaging and so on.
The difference is I dont have a parking brake as my car still rolls after the car said is allready engaged and also I'm pulling the button on top of that.
It is stopping from rolling only when the gearbox locks itself.

So, the settings are there, the messages related with the brake are there, only the brake is not there
An the lack of the noise fron the electric motor pulling the brake is confirm me this.

Situation:

When parking the car, it said that parking brake is automatic engaged, but still after lifting the foot from the brake, the car rolls 2-3 inches as seems it became steady with the help of the gearbox brake and not with the parking brake.
I was pulling myself the button of the hand brake to be sure it is engaged and to eliminate the software mistake that said the parking brake is self-applied but in reality, is not applied. The same result after lifting the foot from the brake....the car rolls if not flat terrain. IMO, the parking brake it is not working. Also, on both BMW and Audi when parking brake is applying, an electric motor makes the specific noise when pulling the brake...the Grecale nothing.

All this from above makes me think my parking braked doesn't work and it never did.

Can you confirm how your car behaves regarding this?

What is funny, is the fact when starting the trip, the car doesn't want to go until I push the button to release the parking brake.

I agree that it seems it's not working at all, but I did a test by putting on Neutral and lifting my foot. The car rolls freely. If I do the same, but manually activating the parking break the car still rolls a little but stops, just like when on P.

Could you please try it on Neutral?

You will most likely have a lemon if they don’t get it fixed within 30 days if you want to go down that route. What state are you in? I finally got an arbitration date from GA for 9/27 so Maserati are now forced to respond and not ignore me.

I’ve had my car for a week and I am enjoying it, love the design and fell good in it but I’m having lots of little issues which are become very irritating and a new one seems to appear daily. I’ve been in a Mercedes and BMW over the past 6 years and they both just worked out the dealer door. I don’t really expect to be dealing with this when paying this kind of money for a 4 cylinder car and a premium over comparable competitive brands . I have a Modena Limited Edition fully loaded with everything except for the roof racks. Is anyone else having these issues or what other issues are you finding?

1. Wireless charger doesn’t work. Maserati are updating a part in it and the dealer is waiting for the part from Italy.
2. Every now and then, the sound system will start playing out of one speaker on the driver side door. It seems the only way to fix it is to stop the car, turn off and open the door.
3. The key system including keyless entry is just hopeless. Keyless entry works when it wants to. Pushing the key button to lock the car doesn’t always work and at other times it locks but doesn’t beep. Exiting the car and walking around it in the garage to get inside sometimes results in 5 to 6 beeps. I never really know if the car is locked or not. To make it worse, rather than having a smaller speaker to provide an audible tone, it screams at you through the main horn/hooter so the key issues and all the honking is beginning to irritate my neighbors.
4. The trunk/boot kick sensor beeps but never opens it.
5. A speaker in the passenger door has a bad vibration even with normal base set.
6. An issue that has been happening which my dealer mentioned to me that I haven’t encountered is the battery is going flat In some cars. Supposedly the car has been recognizing people’s keys in their homes and turning the car systems on which has been draining the battery.

I worked with a few dealers on the east coast before buying and I could never figure out why none of them knew much about the car and I was teaching them as I had watched all the YouTube videos. It turns out Maserati will not give the dealers cars for their sales team to drive to get to know the car and help test it for them. I’m betting we as early adopters are beta testing the car for them and if that is the case, we should be paid for doing it

There are a lot of extremely positive reviews on YouTube so far but all by people who are doing quick test drives. I think I’m going to do one on my experiences to date to help people make an informed decision and make them understand what they are buying in to. A potentially great car that is very new and still has a lot of issues that need to be resolved.

What are your experiences so far?

also having an issue with windshield wipers go on randomly.

Also getting random Tyre Pressure Warnings even though pressures are all ok. The Warning stops after a few minutes, but a little worrying initially because it could be a real Flat.

mine flashed came on and then lost all communication could not get any readings on pressure on any tires and said in apt drive to dealership. The car Tire3s do not feel right the car is not driving smooth they keep saying it is supposed to feel that way but it is not enjoyable to drive the way it hits all bumps and can feel it in the road

I have a Limited Edition. Not great the dealer is that far away. At least my dealer is 5 mins from me as I’ve probably been there over 30 times.

No, it’s a Limited Edition. It was an option for the first release. It includes the Pegaso wheels like the Primaserie but it also has the air suspension that the Trofeo has which I don’t think is included with the Primaserie.

As "WarrenB said above the US market got two special addition both the Primaserie and a Limited Edition. The easiest way you will know which one you have is via the head rests as the Primaseries has just that embroidered on the head rests so if you don't have that then you have the Limited Edition.

Iv'e not had any issues in my Grecale with car play (UK). I have had similar issues in previously owned cars and found that if I re-booted my phone and re-linked my phone to the car it sorted the problem, worth a try.

The dealer called today, day 111 in the service center, and Maserati are going to replace the onboard computer and all the antenna’s. They have to be ordered and shipped out. It’s the first acknowledgement from them that there is an issue with the car.

its the same for me also that the car will rolls a little after you release the brake or you switch to Neutral and i asked the dealer who repled me that Maserati is like this, even Levante is the same. Fail to undersand this because somehow it could be danger and cause some damage...

I'm in the service to try to solve the above sound from the front/left wheel

3 cars at repairs and one pulled outside to make room for mine.
5 from a total of around 50 pieces sold in Romania where in the same time at repairs.
There is only one dealer/service shop in Romania.
This says all about the Grecale.

Later edit.
They are doing 3 sofware updates also.
Something with perimetral cameras
Something related with air suspension
Something related with air conditioning.

Lets hope they are not obtaining an oposite results as my car was working perfectly regarding this 3 directions.
Ok, sometimes the suspension forgets to go in the parking position or even if I set it to run in Aero 1, it goes itself in the normal height. But this was acceptable for a Maserati.

Update:
After picking the car, at the first traffic lights, the start/ stop system kicked in.
When wanted to pull at the green light, the engine refuses to start.
Until I figure out what is going on reading the dash message, the cars behind started to horn
Anyway, I needed to start the engine manualy
It didn't happend again but I will follow up
