Total Milage (Odometer) blinking

1523 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Synapse
Hi folks (newbie to the forum).
Wife purchased a Modena Prima Serie in Dec 2022 (Bianco ash with red interior), 3 months later we're still learning things about the vehicle. :D

Today in particular, the odometer, the total miles on the car on the center bottom part of console, started blinking. We can't find any reference about it.

Does anybody know what would this mean?

TIA

Yes, I know the answer.
We bought the wrong car and we have to set ourselves low expectations :)
So, probabily with a software update you will get the problem soved. Or not.
But then, some other issue will popup and so on untill you will decide to sell the car

To try and put a little prospective on your comment. !!

Iv'e run Porsche's for the last twelve years and currently have a Macan GTS. These have been out for nine years now and even new Macan's today also suffer numerous software issues and on going, along with a lot of mechanical issues also, continually being quoted on the Macan Forum and suffered by myself. So considering the Grecale is a brand new model it appears to be doing a little better than Porsche are nine years on. Most high tech luxury cars out there are all suffering similar software issues as I said some models 10 years on.

If you are loosing confidence in your choice of car,!! then as your car has not yet entered build, you can cancel it and get a full refund, but you will struggle to find a new high tech car out there that has no issues whatsoever unfortunately. Good luck 🤣

I have other software and firmware problems related to my new Grecale Modena… however, not the same one you report. That’s probably because my mileage odometer reading does not show up at all. I reported this (and many other electronic issues) to my dealer and to Maserati Care. My dealership does care but cannot rectify anything because it’s an unresolved factory software/firmware issue. Maserati Care (and even something called Maserati Premium Care)… on the other hand… doesn’t care. Their responses are tone deaf, don’t acknowledge the info given them and refer me to my dealership in a boilerplate, formulaic response.
I also have the blinking odometer issue on my Grecale Modena which started after a week of ownership with about 250 kms on the vehicle. I found this was talked about in other Maserati models but no clear resolution. Let’s share info here if we find something effective. I have not had a chance to take it back to the dealer yet.

So I found some info someone posted on another Maserati forum last year: Odometer Flashing

In an earlier post in the same thread, it mentions a sequence (not specific to the Grecale) that worked for other Maserati owners. I tried it but it didn't work for me.

However, I did find another workaround just by accident. I disconnected the battery (negative terminal only) as I was vacationing for a month and unable to plug in a charger while away. When I returned and reconnected my battery, I noticed the odometer was no longer blinking. I've been driving a week and so far the issue has not returned. However....disconnecting the battery did trigger the Check Engine light. Luckily I have an OBD II reader that I was able to use to clear the code and turn off the check engine light. I did previously scan for an error code when I had the blinking odometer but no errors were logged at that time.
